Buy My Book. Validate Me. | Proud Boomer Press

Hello Reader,

Kim found me in the workshop last week rearranging boxes of my own book so the cover faced out, like I was staging a crime scene instead of a shelf. She didn't say anything. She just looked at me the way she looks at Gus when he brings her a dead lizard, proud of himself, no idea why she's not thrilled. I told her I was "optimizing visibility." She told me I was a 62-year-old man alphabetizing his own name. Both true. I wrote a book called Not Done Yet, and now I need you to buy it, because apparently writing it wasn't the finish line, it was just the part where the begging starts.

So let's skip the dignity and get to the pitch. Here's what's actually in it, presented honestly, which is the least I owe you if I'm going to ask for money.

Your muscle is disappearing right now, whether you read this or not. That's not a scare tactic; it's just what happens after 50 if you don't do anything about it. The book won't stop the clock. It'll just explain why your jeans fit differently than they did in March, and give you something to do about it besides complain to Kim, who has heard enough.

Protein isn't complicated; you're just not eating it. I spend a chapter on this because people want a secret and there isn't one. Eat enough protein, spread it through the day, do resistance work. It's not a hack. It's closer to flossing. Nobody wants to hear it; everybody needs to hear it.

Showing up beats going hard, and that's annoying. Intensity feels heroic. Consistency feels boring. The book argues for boring, repeatedly, because boring is what actually works past 50. I did not enjoy writing a chapter that basically says "just keep doing the unglamorous thing," but here we are.

That's the whole pitch. No fake countdown timer, no "only 3 left," no testimonial from someone named Chad who "transformed his life in 6 days." Just a Navy veteran asking you to buy his book so he can stop rearranging it in the garage.

What's the real reason you haven't started yet, and would you actually tell me if I asked?

Proud Boomer Press Hello Reader, Gus is a fifty-five-pound Bernedoodle who has decided the far side of the yard is where he needs to be right now, and the leash is my problem, not his. I used to end that pull sitting on the ground. Now I plant my feet, brace, and walk him back to the porch like I meant to do that the whole time. I did not get faster. I got stronger. That's the whole story. For years I ate to hit a number on a scale or a size on a tag. Every diet in that cabinet I cleaned out...

Proud Boomer Press Hello Reader, Kim asked me today why I was staring at my laptop, grinning like an idiot. I told her the group is finally live. She said, "The what now?" So, formal announcement. Proud Boomer Press Hello Reader, Kim asked me the other night what I wanted for my birthday. I told her I wanted people to stop finding out about sarcopenia the hard way, the way I did, in a doctor's office at 58, hearing the word "decline" like it was a diagnosis instead of a choice. She said that wasn't a gift, that was a mission statement. Fair. But it's also why every Kindle book I've written is 99 cents this week. No catch, no funnel, no upsell waiting on page two. Just the price dropped...
